Walton County, in addition to hosting a wide array of local community events, is adjacent to Gwinnett County and a short drive to the Gwinnett Area for attending concerts and events, only 50 miles from Atlanta events and dining, 30 minutes from the downtown Athens Classic Center and the University of Georgia events, upscale dining and entertainment options.
Nestled in the Alcovy River basin between the urban sprawl of Atlanta and classic Athens, Monroe, Ga. offers the best of both worlds. The City of Loganville boasts great shopping and dining options, as well as festivals and events throughout the year: the annual Autumn Heritage Festival, Tree Lighting and Christmas Parade, a new skating rink, indoor soccer complex, and bowling alley. Maxie Price Chevrolet also hosts several classic auto shows throughout the year.
Social Circle is a historic community in Walton County located some 40 miles east of Atlanta. Established in 1818, Walton County is named for George Walton, one of the original signers of America’s Declaration of Independence.
Social Circle boasts an entire historic district between Georgia 11 and Georgia 229, which was added to the Federal Register in 1980. Not on the register but worth noting in Social Circle is the Nebhut-Akridge-Gunter House (ca. 1840-55), also known as Gunter Hall, which serves as the headquarters of the Historic Preservation Society of Social Circle.
